Blow torch

A blowtorch is in today's parlance, a small, handy propane or butane powered gas burner whose application is not just limited to the solder (preferably plumbing or heating installation, as well as brazing ). The blowtorch is also suitable for Grillanzünden, removal ( burning ) of paint jobs, au gratin or in general for heating ( preheating ) of objects ( such as semi-diesel engines ).

History

The blowtorch was invented around 1797 in other sources from August 1799 by Marquardt in Eberswalde. As fuel alcohol vapor was used.

Operation

Originally, the torch was operated with gasoline as fuel. Here, because preheating the blowtorch ( with alcohol or gasoline) is necessary to achieve the required gasification temperature, the handling of these blowtorches is tricky; if not handled properly can even burning (liquid ) fuel from the burner exit. Although petrol-powered blow lamps are usually provided with a pressure relief valve and / or an overheat protection, this will not prevent all accidents. Today is the butane variant, the handling is also easier, more common.
