Blšany

Blšany ( German Flöhau at Podersam ) is a town with 938 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is 5 km southeast of Podbořany ( Podersam ) in 277 m asl at the Blšanka ( Goldbach ), a tributary of the Eger.

History

The first mention of Blšany dates from the year 1238. During the 14th century Flöhau received city rights. 1588 was carried out by the landlords, the noble family of Lobkowicz Hassenstein the founding of the brewery. In the years 1716 and 1717, and the parish church was renewed. On 31 October 1825, the Flöhauer church was destroyed by fire. 1939 lived in the town of 734 people, mostly German Bohemia, who were expelled after the Second World War. After the Second World War Blšany lost its city charter and received it back in October 2006. The city was also known by the former FK Chmel Fußballerstligisten Blšany.

The city Blšany consists of the districts Blšany ( Flöhau ) Liběšovice ( Lischwitz ), Malá Cernoc ( Kleintschernitz ) Sirem ( Ziirau ) Soběchleby (Upper clover) and Stachov ( Stachl ), at the same time also form Katastralbezirke. To Blšany also includes the hamlet of Carka ( Zarch ).
