Blue Eagles

The Blue Eagles are an aerobatic team of the Army Air Corps, the air forces of the British Army. They are one of the few teams showing off helicopter aerobatics.

History

The Blue Eagles were founded in 1968 in Middle Wallop, a stronghold of the Army Air Corps in Hampshire. At the beginning of the season flew the Bell 47 For cost reasons, the Blue Eagles were however disbanded shortly after their first major appearances in 1974 again. Then did some volunteer squadron in their spare time, but on machines of the army continued. The team changed over the years many times his name, including Silver Eagles and Eagles Army. In 1994 they won under the former name of the prestigious Wilkinson Sword for the best aerobatics performance by a participant from the United Kingdom at the Royal International Air Tattoo.

Only in 1996 were the pilots again assume the traditional name Blue Eagles. The squadron now consists of four Aerospatiale SA 341/342 and a Westland Lynx. From the 2009 season of Apache AH1 and Lynx AH7.
