Blue Eye, Albania

Syri i Kalter (German Blue Eye ) is a karst spring on the western slope of the mountain range located in Albania Mali i Gjere. It is equipped with 6 m³ / s, the water- richest source of the country.

The water enters at high pressure produced from a source container, the exact depth could not be explored. The temperature is 12.75 ° C with a maximum deviation of only 0.15 ° C. The immediate area (180 ha) is a nature reserve and is characterized by oak and sycamore groves. Near the source ponds which, fed from their water. Today, they are hardly used. Although designated as a protected area, in the late 1990s the construction of a restaurant was allowed in Syri i Kalter, making the environment has lost much of its original charm.
