Blue Murder (band)

Blue Murder was a British, blue -heavy hard rock band that was founded in 1989 by John Sykes, the former guitarist of Tygers Of Pan Tang, Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy.

Band History

Sykes founded the group Blue Murder after he left the well-known hard rock band Whitesnake, who just celebrated her greatest success with the release of their album in 1987. His new band should go in that direction: blues - influenced hard rock.

Cozy Powell (drums) and Ray Gillen (vocals), both former members of Black Sabbath, were also involved in the initial phase, but got out after a few demo recordings. Then Sykes took over the vocals and took along with Tony Franklin (bass, keyboards), who had also been a founding member, Carmine Appice (drums, percussion) and keyboardist Nik Green, the self-titled debut album. Green had previously worked mainly with Roy Harper. The eponymous single Blue Murder was also placed at number 69 of the U.S. album charts.

Franklin and Appice were also represented on the next album, but were supplemented by Marco Mendoza ( bass) and Tommy O'Steen (drums) and eventually replaced. On the album Nothin ' But Trouble Itchycoo Park was to hear a cover of The Small Faces.
