Splendour Kiel lizard ( Algyroides nigropunctatus )

The splendor keel lizard ( Algyroides nigropunctatus ) is a reptilian species from the family of lizards ( Lacertidae ) and the genus of lizards Kiel ( Algyroides ).

Features

The sleek high -headed lizard has large keeled dorsal scales and a long tail. The back is colored cinnamon brown to dark brown and has no black spots. Throat and neck are deep blue in the male. The orange-red abdomen often has a yellow central zone, while the belly edge labels are partially blue. The smaller female has a greenish yellow to pale orange belly. The total length of the lizard is 18 to 21 centimeters.

Dissemination

The splendor keel lizard is found in the coastal areas of northern Italy to western Greece and the Ionian Islands.

Way of life

The males form small territories, which they defend. The females lay twice a year from two to three eggs. The splendor keel lizards feed on insects, spiders, worms, and isopods.
