Bob McMillen (athlete)

Bob McMillen (Robert Earl actually McMillen, born March 5, 1928 in Los Angeles, † 1 April 2007) is a former American professional middle distance runners and obstacle.

In 1948 he started in the Olympic Games in London about 3000 m steeplechase, but did not get beyond the flow.

In 1952, he was starting for the Occidental College, NCAA champion in the 1,500 meters and won the national qualifying contest over this distance for the Olympic Games in Helsinki. There he won with the U.S. record of 3:45,2 min silver, only a hair's breadth from Luxembourg- Josy Barthel defeated.
