Bob van Asperen

Bob van Asperen ( born October 8, 1947 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch harpsichordist, organist and conductor.

Life

After studying at the Conservatory in Amsterdam with Gustav Leonhardt, Bob van Asperen began his international concert career. He was a member of the ensemble " Quadro Hotteterre " and La Petite Bande, and founder of the ensemble " Melante 81 ". After studying van Asperen taught at the Conservatory of The Hague. In 1967 he played the composer Johann Elias Bach in Jean -Marie Straub's feature film Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach. In 1988 he became professor of harpsichord and basso continuo at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam in succession by Gustav Leonhardt.

Bob van Asperen reconstructed works of Johann Sebastian Bach and the Dutch composer Sybrandus van Noord, Cornelius Thymenszoon Padbrué and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
