Bogenhauser Künstlerkapelle

The Bogenhauser artist chapel was a German recorder ensemble. It was founded in 1890 in Munich and lasted until the Second World War.

Members included the sculptor Georg Pezold and Professor Henry Duell, the architect Sedlmaier, Drs Rentsch and Aichinger and orchestral musician Josef Wagner. The ensemble played on original recorders, among others, Denner. To complement a guitar and a pair of timpani was consulted. The band has participated in numerous festivals in Munich. Venues were the old town hall, the German Museum and the Residenz Theater. The music of the ensemble was documented by radio recordings. The Bogenhauser artist chapel was probably the first German Recorder ensemble of modern times before the general renaissance of the instrument against 1930.
