The reedbuck ( Redunca redunca ), called to distinguish it from other species of the genus Redunca as Common reedbuck, is an African antelope.

We distinguish up to ten subspecies.

Features

This antelope is slightly smaller than the Great reedbuck with a shoulder height of 70 to 90 centimeters. You can reach a weight of up to 50 kilograms, the horns of the male are up to fifty centimeters long. The top is yellowish to reddish brown, the underside white; the front legs have black markings. Dissemination and lifestyle

The reedbuck is West, Central and East Africa spread across floodplains, swamps and flooded forests. Habitat and behavior is similar to that of Großenried Capricorn.

Male reedbuck are territorial loners who claim all those living in its territory females. The females live in loose clusters that dissolve quickly when they reside in regions with good coverage. Only in an open area without protection they form flocks of up to ten animals.
