Bonarda
Bonarda is a name for various but only partly related to each other red varietals.
- Bonarda Piemontese is grown in Piedmont, Italy, and there are often blended with the varieties Croatina and Nebbiolo.
- Bonarda Novarese also grows in Piedmont, but it is actually the variety Uva Rara.
- Bonarda Grossa is grown in the Lombardy and Emilia -Romagna and there blended with Barbera. This is the sort Croatina.
- Bonarda di Gattinara is also grown in Lombardy and is probably closely related to the variety Bonarda Piemontese.
- In Brazil and Argentina, there is a variety that is called Bonarda and is widely used. For her it is probably the variety Charbono, which is also grown in California.
