Bonaventura Carles Aribau

Bonaventura Carles Aribau i Farriols (* 1798 in Barcelona, † 1862 same place ) was a Catalan writer, poet and scholar economy.

Aribau considered the founder of cultural movement Renaixença that was for the Catalan language and culture, but also the national consciousness of Catalonia is of utmost importance. With his work Oda a la patria from the year 1833, he founded the recovery of the Catalan language after years of Decadencia where the Catalan language was virtually meaningless because they had been displaced by the Spanish.
