Inside systematics

The bones of the fish family is divided into two sub-families, each mono generic, that is, they contain only one species.

Subfamily Albulinae

The species of the subfamily Albulinae have a short dorsal fin base, the dorsal fin has 16 to 21 fin rays. The number of gill Reuse rays at 15 to 17, to 16, the gill region is protected from the bottom in addition by a narrow, centrally positioned Kehl- bone plate ( Gularia ) the Branchiostegalstrahlen at 10. The maxilla and tongue toothless. On the parasphenoid to find molars. Dandruff formula: SL 66-84, 69-80 vertebrae.
