Bonifatius Haushiku

Boniface House ( h) iku ( born 1933 or 1935 † June 12, 2002 in Windhoek ) was a Namibian priest and first Archbishop of Windhoek and the first black Catholic bishop of Namibia.

Life

He was born on Kavango near Sambiu and attended the School of the Catholic mission station of Sambiu. On June 29, 1966 he was ordained a priest. On November 15, 1978 was made by the pope's appointment as auxiliary bishop in Windhoek and appointed Titular Bishop of Troyna. On 27 January 1979 he was ordained by Rudolf Maria Koppmann bishop and took over on 29 November 1980, the leadership of the Apostolic Vicariate of Windhoek. With increase of the Vicariate to the archbishopric Hausiku was on 14 March 1994 as Archbishop.

Hausiku died on 12 June 2002 in Windhoek.
