We are the Scottish Infantry Regiment ( Original title: Bonnie Scotland) is an American comedy film from the year 1935 by James W. Horne with the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy in the lead roles. The film premiered on August 23, 1935, and premiered on 8 May 1936 in Germany in the cinema. An alternative title is The brave Scots.

Action

The wealthy Angus Ian McLaurel died. The population of the Scottish village where he lived, is informed of the lawyer Miggs from the last will McLaurels. At the same time his grandson Stanley McLaurel comes with his friend Oliver Hardy in the place. The granddaughter Lorna is used as the main heir. The lexicon of the International film describes the film as a " turbulent slapstick comedy that her wit from the confrontation of the clumsy " heroes " win with the absurdities of reality. " The " TimeOut Film Guide " does not hold the film for the funniest of the two comedians, but he had some memorable moments.

Background

The film marks a turning point in the creation of the world famous comedy duo dar. Even before this production had turned the two several feature length films. Nevertheless, they kept returning to the popular short comedies. In the following years they turned only feature-length films.

The production of the FIlms was overshadowed by contract disputes between Stan Laurel, who worked also on the script, and producer Hal Roach. Filming, which began in early March 1935, had to be interrupted on March 16. The " Hollywood Reporter " reported that Laurel had left the studio. A week later, the Journal reported a statement by Hal Roach, in which it was said that Laurel had left the production on their own due to artistic disagreements. At the same time let Laurel announced that he was terminated without notice. Reason is the refusal to work his side have been, but the real reason was his rejection of a renewal contract with the studio.
