Boris Cyrulnik

Life

Cyrulniks family moved in 1936 from Ukraine and Poland to France. His father was a French soldier and was deported to Auschwitz prisoner of war, as he was according to the understanding of the German Nazis as a Jew. His mother was able to bring the son in June 1942, in a foster family to safety before they, too, was deported as a Jew in a German extermination camp. Cyrulnik was recorded in January 1944 during a raid, but was able to escape from the group of herded together into the synagogue of the Jews of Bordeaux. After the war he was between the family of his aunt and his foster family torn. He is since 1996 Director of Studies of the Faculty of Human Sciences at the Université du Sud -Toulon - Var, Chair of ethology and the head of a research group for clinical ethology at the hospital of Toulon. Cyrulnik is mainly known for his work on the psychological concept of resilience
