Boris Nemšić

Boris NEMSIC [ bɔris nɛmʃitɕ ] ( born August 17, 1957 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, now Bosnia and Herzegovina) is an Austrian manager. He was Chief Executive Officer until the beginning of 2009 ( CEO) of the Telekom Austria Group and from April 2009 to June 2010 CEO of the Russian telecom company VimpelCom.

Life

In 1980 he received his diploma as an electrical engineer at the University of Sarajevo. With 27 years NEMSIC came to Vienna in 1984 to study here. 1990 doctorate in the Bosnian Croat at the Technical University of Vienna, where he also served for two years as a research assistant at the Institute of Communications and Radio- Frequency Engineering at Ernst Bonek.

In addition to studying NEMSIC played handball - with the UHC Stockerau it as goalie three times cup winner and Austrian champion.

From 1990 until joining the Telekom Austria, he headed the departments for mobile communications development at Ascom and Bosch Telecom in Vienna, Solothurn ( Switzerland ) and Berlin. In the course of telecom liberalization Boris NEMSIC was hired in 1997 by the Mobilkom Austria as head of network planning. In November 1998 he led the team of the Croatian subsidiary Mobilkom Austria Vipnet.

In May 2000, the Supervisory Board of Mobilkom Austria Boris NEMSIC appointed as Director General of the company and entrusted him with the commercial management. By January 2001 he was also responsible for the managing board technology in this function. Boris NEMSIC was appointed in July 2002 as COO mobile communications to the Board of Telekom Austria ( TA). With the May 24, 2006 NEMSIC took over in addition to his role as Mobilkom CEO also chairs the TA Board. He is a member of the University Council of the University of Vienna.

In 2008 he the " Great Golden Badge of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria " was awarded for his contributions to the development of mobile communications in Austria.

By 31 March 2009 NEMSIC resigned as CEO of Telekom Austria Group and of mobilkom austria AG and took over the position as CEO of VimpelCom in Russia. In June 2010 Nemsic surprisingly left the company.

Since July 2011 he has worked for the specialized telecommunications, media and technology consulting firm Delta Partners. At the same time builds NEMSIC his own company in the field of international trade in wine mainly with thinly traded on Croatian wines.

On March 15, 2012 NEMSIC was questioned by the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into allegations of corruption as a witness.

NEMSIC is married and has two children ..
