Born into the '90s is the debut album by R. Kelly and the background band Public Announcement. It was released in January 1992 and contained national hits like She's Got That Vibe, Dedicated, Honey Love and Slow Dance ( Hey Mr. DJ).

Recording

1991 R. Kelly wrote a contract with Jive Records. The first release " Born into the '90s " (recorded with backing band Public Announcement ) made in 1992 for rave reviews. The album was produced by R. Kelly himself and the Afro-American producer and founder of Blackground Records Barry Hankerson. It has 11 tracks and almost 45 minutes long, a rather short album.

Achievements

Born into the '90s brought him to the States in 1993 with its first platinum and spent several weeks number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 At his first England tour, he joined London three times in the sold-out Hammersmith Apollo. 18 months later, he played already five sold-out shows in the same hall as an appearance in Wolverhampton. The album along with numerous nominations for the American Music Award in the category "Favorite Soul / R & B single" was. Despite these considerable achievements R. Kelly left the band shortly after to begin publishing to a successful solo career.
