Borys Paton

Borys Paton (Ukrainian Борис Євгенович Патон, Russian Борис Евгеньевич Патон; born November 27, 1918 in Kiev) is a Ukrainian scientist, specialist in the field of electric welding and president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Patons father Yevgeny Oskarowitsch Paton was an inventor of arc welding and engineering for Brückenbau.1941 closed Paton his studies at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute and worked at least one year at the factory " Krasnoje Sormowo " in Gorky and then to run by his father Institute of Electric Welding of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Kiev. After the death of his father Paton took over the post of director of the now named after his father Institute. In 1962, he was elected in addition to the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. At the same time he became a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Paton Award among others, the Stalin and Lenin Prize. In addition, four of the Order of Lenin and twice the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, he was awarded. He is also the winner of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd and 1st class. Borys Paton is the first winner of the title Hero of Ukraine.

In the GDR, Paton 1967, was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
