Bosque Nancuchiname

Bosque de Nancuchiname is a forest area in the department of Usulután, in the southern part of El Salvador on the Pacific coast. From the 1,030 -acre area since 2008, 798 hectares are under special conservation as a biosphere reserve.

2005 were registered in this forest area 42 species of Hymenoptera, which are in their importance for the pollination of particular importance. The study by the Universidad Nacional de El Salvador ( UES ) began in late 2004 and was funded by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals program. As pollinators and producers of honey, the numerous honeybee colonies also have a rich tradition of economic and cultural significance for the country El Salvador.

The typical trees consists among others of Ceiba ( Ceiba pentandra ), Ojushte ( Brosimum alicastrum ) and Enterolobium cyclocarpum and reaches a height of up to 30 meters.
