Bottrop Hauptbahnhof is the only remaining passenger station in the city of Bottrop. Furthermore, there are only three breakpoints in Bottrop -Boy, Bottrop Bottrop - Vonderort and field camp. The station is classified in category 4 station.

History

Already on 12 November 1879, the Royal Westphalian Railway Company had the portion Horst- Osterfeld taken WfE their railway Welver - Sterkrade into operation without having to set but at Bottrop city a railway station. Just one year later, the company was nationalized, partly dismantled the track.

On 1 May 1905, the Prussian State Railways opened the railway line Oberhausen- Osterfeld Süd -Hamm, Westphalia, which runs parallel to route from Osterfeld Süd and about four kilometers east of present-day Central Station swings to the north.

With the distance of time Bottrop West railway station was called at the same time almost half a kilometer east of the present main station opened. This was designed as an island station between the two railway lines, the station building was located east of the station road and was surrounded by sets of two through platform tracks.

The Bottrop CME station of the former Cologne -Minden Railway Company on the railway line Ruhrort -Dortmund had been renamed at this time in Bottrop Süd, the Bottrop RhE station of the former Rhenish Railway Company on the railway line Duisburg- Quakenbruck in Bottrop North.

The Bottrop Westbahnhof surpassed the two older stations rapidly in importance, and as he was in 1914 renamed in Bottrop and 1927-1936 finally in Bottrop Hauptbahnhof after July 1, 1922 new link to the railway line Mülheim -Hot -Oberhausen - Osterfeld North had been created.

After the Second World War, the " Westphalian route " from Bottrop had not been put back into operation and partly degraded. Bottrop North was closed on 29 May 1960 Bottrop Süd followed 14 years later on 26 May 1974.

As the old main station was measured by its importance both capacitive oversized spatially, it was torn down in 1995 and just build further half a kilometer west between Bahnhofstrasse and Essen Road as a normal transit station.

The Bottrop Hbf is located together with the district of Recklinghausen in the timetable area 2 of the transport association Rhein -Ruhr and is served by buses through the Vestische, EVAG and the BVR at the northern station exit.

Weekdays operate all lines (up to the line 294 and SB29 ) from 4.30 clock in 20 -minute intervals, during the weekend of the central station every 30 minutes is approached (except the SB - lines and the line 294 ).
