Males: 56-62 cm, Bitches: 52-56 cm ( Tolerance: ± 1 cm)

Dogs: 28-35 kg, Bitches: 22-28 kg

The Bouvier des Ardennes is a recognized by the FCI Belgian breed (FCI Group 1, Section 2, Standard No. 171).

It is believed that the breed originated in the Ardennes and evolved by crossing local Belgian breeds in the 18th century. The Bouvier des Ardennes is medium in size with up to 62 cm and 35 kg, with a shaggy coat of medium length outer coat with a very dense undercoat, which is a good protection for the dog. All colors except white are allowed by default. The ears are hairy, standing or hanging. The Bouvier des Ardennes has a rugged character and appearance. He is wary of strangers. He is an intelligent and obedient working dog. It was originally used for guarding and driving cattle, but also works with sheep, where it will benefit his speed. Even as a hunting dog, the breed was used.
