Bózsva

Bózsva is a town in Borsod -Abaúj -Zemplén.

Geographical Location

Bózsva lies in northern Hungary, 84 kilometers from county capital Miskolc. Neighboring municipalities are Kishuta at the distance of 6 km and Nyíri 4 km. The nearest towns are Pálháza at the distance of 3 km and Sátoraljaújhely 20 km.

History

Bózsva is a settlement from the time of the Árpád dynasty. The place was first mentioned in 1264 with the name Borsua. There emerged two independent settlements: Kisbózsva ( German: Klein- Bózsva ) belonged to the castle Abaújvár, disappeared during the period of Turkish occupation and was settled in the 18th century. Nagybózsva (wholesale Bózsva ) was to the 15th century royal domain. During the Turkish occupation and the freedom struggle of Rákóczi, the place was deserted and was repopulated in the 18th century. Since the beginning of the 20th century include both places for county Abaujwar - Tornau. In the census in 1910 were in Kisbózsvá of 139 inhabitants 138 Hungary and Nagybózsvá of 247 inhabitants 245 Hungary.
