Brachymesia

Brachymesia gravida

Brachymesia is a panel of three kinds of dragonflies genus. The genus belongs to the subfamily Leucorrhininae and was described in 1889 by William Forsell Kirby. As Generotyp was an animal of the hitherto undescribed species Brachymesia australis. Today, this type is known as Brachymesia furcata. The distribution area extends from the southern United States to northern Chile and Argentina.

Features

Brachmesia species are medium to large, red or brown or black dragonflies and reach lengths of 38-54 mm. The abdomen (abdomen) is swollen in the first three segments. Their wings are transparent. The cost Alfeld and between the nodus and the wing tip, there are brown marks.

Habitat and way of life

The animals live in ponds or swamps. When the sun shines they are very active.
