Bracket clock

As Stock clocks ( also Stutz clocks or bracket clocks) is a form of mechanical clocks called with spring, suitable for placing on tables, dressers, fireplaces or consoles, and thereby distinguish it from the ground floor clocks, wall clocks, and portable clocks. Stock clocks are divided into altar watches, figurine clocks, clocks, watches Portal, Mirror clocks, table clocks, tower clocks and Zappler. Of great importance for the development of the stock clocks had the pendulum construction of the Dutch physicist Christiaan Huygens ( 1629-1695 ). Characteristic for stock clocks of the 17th and 18th centuries are solid brass works with verge escapement and spring drive with chain and screw. Significant examples of masterful Bracket Clocks derived from the London clockmaker Thomas Tompion ( 1639-1713 ).
