Brahim Boutayeb

Moulay Brahim Boutayeb ( born August 15, 1967 in Khemisset ) is a former Moroccan athlete.

Up to the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul Boutayeb was little known in the athletics scene, then already more than 5000 - meter runner. The 10,000 - meter race in Seoul has been addressed very quickly, especially the Kenyans Kipkemboi Kimeli and Moses Tanui took pace. A small lead group passed the 5,000 - yard mark in world record time and Boutayeb took over the top. On the last lap he slowed the pace deliberate and won the race with the fourth- best ever way past time ( 27:21,46 min).

After the Olympics Boutayeb, decided again to focus more on shorter distances. Between 1500 m and 5000 m he set new personal bests. At the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo Boutayeb won the bronze medal over 5000 meters. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Boutayeb was ungrateful Fourth, only just 0.75 seconds behind the winner Dieter Baumann.

After he had retired at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 in the 5000 -meter lead, Boutayeb announced his resignation. Since then, he tries to be a rally driver.
