Brandscheid
Brand Scheid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Prüm.
Geography
Scheid fire is located in the North Eifel Nature Park. The municipality also includes the residential places Bongert, Brandscheiderhof, Holiday village Schnee Eifel; Forest home Bleialf, forestry house fire Scheid, Hamburg and Schneifel.
History
Brand Scheid was first mentioned in records in 1273. The name refers to fire clearance by the monks of the Abbey of Prüm. Scheid fire was in the Middle Ages fief of the lords of Schoenberg, in the 14th century the Counts of Luxembourg, then the Prüm Abbey from 1576 and the Electorate of Trier. The council fire Scheid consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Attractions
- The Catholic St. Cornelius Church is a late Gothic building dating from around 1500. It was destroyed in the Second World War up to the exterior and restored in 1949 after the original structure largely.
