Branges
Branges is a commune with 2395 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire, in the Bourgogne region. The municipality is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de Communes du Canton de Louhans.
Geography
The city is located in the Bresse region, on the banks of the river seille.
History
The reign of Branges in 1655 raised to the Marquisat, the first Marquis of Branges was Paul Barillon d' Amoncourt, Special Envoy of the French King Louis XIV in London 1677-1688.
Between 1973 and 1979 Branges was incorporated into its larger neighboring town Louhans.
Population
The population of Branges take a small slump in the 1990s again too slow.
Economy and infrastructure
On the banks of seille is a leisure port, which is used by sports and houseboats.
