Brasilia Digital TV Tower

The new TV tower Brasília (Portuguese: Torre de TV Digital de Brasília ) is a TV tower in Brasília for the broadcasting of digital television. With construction delayed due to a political crisis, so that the original opening date on April 21, 2010 - the 50th anniversary of the Brazilian capital - could not be sustained. The tower is located in the northeast of Brasilia on the highest point of the city area. The inauguration took place eventually with two years delay on 21 April 2012.

Description

The tower consists of a 123 -meter-high shaft made of reinforced concrete, the curved cantilevered platforms has on 60 and 80 meters in height, each carrying a glass dome. The architectural language is reminiscent of a flower, which is why the tower also Flor do Cerrado is called. Access is via a spiral ramp applied to the shaft via a basin at the foot of the building. The facilities inside the tower are three elevators and a fire staircase. The tower shaft spreads cup-shaped top and should be completed by a 56 meter high, tapered steel antenna. The television tower rises from a water-filled circular basin in the air. The foundation is 13.4 m deep and consists of 2 million cubic meters of concrete.
