Brazil at the 2010 FIFA World Cup

This article is about the Brazilian national football team at the FIFA World Cup 2010. Brazil retired for the second time in succession in the quarterfinals to eventual runner-up, and can therefore no longer lay claim to every continent, have taken place in the World Cup finals, at least once to have won the title. National coach Dunga, the premature end was blamed, resigned after the World Cup and was replaced by Mano Menezes.

Qualification

The team qualified through the qualifiers of the South African Football Association CONMEBOL for the World Cup in South Africa.

All ten teams, who belonged to the South American federation CONMEBOL, played in a single group stage return match against each other with a total of 18 matches per team revealed. The top four teams qualified directly for the finals of the 2010 World Cup, the fifth-placed had to be measured against the fourth-placed out of CONCACAF qualifying for a finals place. Brazil rose as group winners on directly to the finals.

In the preliminary round of the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, the Brazilian national team met in the group G on North Korea, Ivory Coast and Portugal. After a narrow victory against North Korea and a comfortable victory against Ivory Coast the high Favourites needed only a draw in the final game to secure the group.
