  • Bremerhaven - Shop Window Fishery Harbor (only heritage railway traffic to and from Bad Bederkesa )

Location and design

The Bremerhaven Hauptbahnhof is located about 2 km southeast of the city center and is designed as a through station. He replaced the old 1914 Geestemünder station of 1862, which was located at what is now Klußmannstraße. From him go routes from south to Bremen and Bremervörde - Hamburg ( separation of the lines in Bremerhaven - Wulsdorf ) north towards Cuxhaven, the Columbus Quay and the Museum train to Bad Bederkesa (separation of the lines in Bremerhaven - Speckenbüttel ).

The Bremerhaven Hauptbahnhof has four platform tracks, which are surrounded on both sides by freight railroads. A partial restoration of the station building and the renewal of platforms and platform shelters including installation of lifts was planned for 2008. This was started in late 2009 and will be held (April 2011). For this purpose, the German Bahn AG, the State of Bremen and Bremerhaven, will invest about 8.2 million euros with the present state. A complete renovation of the lobby was not initially planned for cost reasons but also in prospect after the increase in the share of Deutsche Bahn to 800,000 euros and an additional contribution from the city of Bremerhaven in the amount of 600,000 euros. Also this renovation is in the implementation.
