BREN-Tower

The BREN Tower ( BREN = Bare Reactor Experiment - Nevada ) was a pre-engineered, guyed steel lattice mast of 465 meters above sea level, which was built in 1962 on the nuclear bomb test site at Yucca Flat, Nevada (United States ) to the radiation exposure of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to simulate by means of a slidable on this tower unshielded nuclear reactor. Inside the tower itself was a passenger lift, various Japanese design houses were built near the mast.

Since underground nuclear tests at risk the continued use, the BREN tower was dismantled in 1966 and at 36 ° 46 ' 50 "N, 116 ° 14' 36 " W36.780555555556 - 116.24333333333Koordinaten: 36 ° 46 ' 50 "N, 116 ° 14' 36 "W at the site Jackass Flats, also on the atomic bomb test site, rebuilt. He is still the highest building, which was moved to another location. He was subsequently used for the Henre accelerator project ( High Energy Neutron Reactions Experiment).

On 23 May 2012, the BREN tower was blown up.
