Brian Jacques

Brian Jacques ( born June 15, 1939 in Liverpool, England; † February 5, 2011 ) was a British writer who was best known for his Redwall series.

Life

He grew up in Liverpool, northern England, where he lived until his death. He wrote Redwall, the beginning of a great saga that he himself would have liked to read as a boy, for the children of a school for the blind. He also wrote two books, the castaways and the gold of the pirates.

The Redwallsaga includes 21 books with different main characters. Nine of the books are available in German.

His own biography is the stories that he wrote, not so dissimilar. At fifteen, he hung up the school to the nail and went as a sailor at sea. His travels took him to distant port cities, to New York, San Francisco, and Yokohama. After his return, he worked as dockworkers, truck drivers, boxers, police officer and trainer.
