Brian Large

Brian Large ( born February 16, 1939 in London ) is a television director of opera transmissions.

He was from 1965 to 1980 chief stage director of the BBC, he is Head of Media at New York's Metropolitan Opera since 1980. He has won two Emmy Awards for TV recordings, namely an Outstanding Achievement Award in 1991 for the Silver Jubilee Gala of the Met and one in 1992 for the production of Tosca, conducted by Zubin Mehta.

Among other things, Large has resulted in the records of the Ring cycle at Bayreuth in 1980, the video of the Three Tenors (1990) and some videos of Cecilia Bartoli Director. From 1991 to 2009, and in 2011 he led the director of photography of the television broadcast of the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic.
