Brian Muir (racing driver)

Brian Muir (* June 30, 1931, † 11 September 1983) was an Australian racing driver.

Brian Muir was in the late 1960s and early 1970s, one of the most successful drivers in touring car racing. 1965, the Australian was finished third overall in the World Touring Car Championship in his home country and came to Europe with this reputation. Muir drove in the British Touring Car Championship and in 1968 on a Ford Falcon Sprint runner-up in this championship. In 1970 he was third championship. His race car this season was a Chevrolet Camaro. Muir went into this series until 1976. In the European Touring Car Championship his best overall result was a second place in the final standings in 1973. He drove this season a BMW 3.0CSL Alpina Racing.

Muir also denied sports car racing. For years he was works driver John Wyer and went for his team in the World Sportscar Championship at the start. At the 24 - hour race in Le Mans he drove the Mirage M1 and the Ford GT40. In four starts, it never was able to place himself in this long-distance race.
