Brian Piccolo

Louis Brian Piccolo ( born October 31, 1943 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, † June 16, 1970 in New York City, New York ) was a U.S. American football player of the Chicago Bears in the National Football League ( NFL). The 1.83 -meter running back completed 51 games for the Bears before with him in 1969 was diagnosed with incurable cancer, and he died shortly afterwards. His number 41 is no longer awarded since the Bears.

Piccolo's fate was filmed in the award winning movie Brian 's Song (1971 ), in which he was portrayed by James Caan. This also Piccolos special friendship was addressed to his colleague Gale Sayers.
