Life

Simpson received in 1974 at West Midlands College of Education diploma in Education and was then until 1989 worked in Liverpool as a teacher. 1981 to 1986 he was a member of the County of Merseyside, as well as Vice Chairman of the Liverpool airport. 1987-1991 Simpson was a member of the City Council of Warrington. Since 1997 he is a member of the British Parliament. Simpson was parliamentary private secretary to the former Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott.

Simpson is married and father of three children.
