Bridge Island Meadows

IUCN Category V - Protected Landscape / Seascape

BWf1

Iceland Bridge Meadows is a 80 acre ( 32.4 ha) comprehensive, out of the way nature reserve in Millis, Massachusetts in the United States. It is located in a flood plain of the Charles River and is managed by the organization The Trustees of Reservations.

Sanctuary

The area was given to the Trustees in 1974 by Dr. and Mrs. John D. Constable. It is located on the southeastern shore of the South End Pond and is only accessible by canoe or kayak on the Bogastow Brook. Since this infrequently leads water, the appropriate time must be cut to length. The river is overgrown with vegetation and therefore difficult to navigate with a boat.

Is the Bogastow Brook overcome, one arrives after a short walk to a 130 ft ( 39.6 m) high, tree-covered hills, from which a good view of the surroundings is possible. However, since there is no way to walkers have to fight through the thick vegetation. The landing by canoe or kayak is due to the dense vegetation already a big challenge.
