The black sensor body Dick Spanner or cherry tensioner ( Lycia hirtaria ) is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of the tensioner ( Geometridae ).

Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 35 to 45 millimeters. The front wing of the black probe Dick tensioner body are gray colored and black dusted, with a curved interior and a curved outer transverse line through the middle limit. The hind wings are also gray and bear two to three transverse lines. The males have large, dark, double combed sensor, by which one can distinguish the type of Apocheima hispidaria.

The caterpillars are brown or gray in color and with a yellow- red drawing.

Dissemination

The black sensor thick body clamp is a common butterfly and is found in the temperate zones of Europe and Asia. It is found in woods, groves, gardens and parks.

Flight times and caterpillars

The moths fly in a generation of March to May and are attracted to the light. The caterpillars can be encountered from May to August to the forage crops.

Way of life

The larvae live in different hardwoods such as birch, oak, alder, ash, elm, etc. The species overwinters as a pupa (sometimes multiple times). The moths rest during the day on tree branches and stone walls.
