The Brita - Arena is a football stadium in the Hessian capital Wiesbaden, which is the home of Wehen since the 2007 /08 season. The plant is named after the former main sponsor Brita. The Brita - Arena is located on the grounds of the Helmut -Schön Sports Park between Gustav- Stresemann-Ring, Berliner Straße and Wettinerstraße.

Development and use of

The Arena of steel tubing stands was completed in October 2007 after a construction period of only four months and serves the Wehen as the venue for home games. The construction of a new stadium had become necessary in the 2nd Bundesliga, with the rise of the SV labor. The old stadium at the Halberg in labor (city Taunus stone) as a venue was in favor of the plan to move to nearby Wiesbaden, abandoned.

Until the completion of the Brita Arena of Wehen wore out the first four home games of the second division season 2007/ 08 in the Frankfurt Commerzbank - Arena. The home game in the first round of the DFB Cup 2007/ 08 against VfB Stuttgart took place in Mainz Bruchwegstadion.

On 11 October 2007, the Brita Arena was officially inaugurated with a friendly match against Borussia Dortmund (1:2). The first home league game 05 ( 1:3 ) was held there on 21 October 2007 against local rivals 1 FSV Mainz.

Increasingly, the Brita Arena is also used for international matches. On 25 March 2008 the German U-21 national team in Wiesbaden defeated Luxembourg 6-0, and on September 8, 2009, the Under-21 match against the Czech Republic was held there, who lost the German selection with 1:2. Was held on April 21, 2010 at the Arena a friendly match between South Africa and the World Cup participants North Korea instead of (0-0 ). On 16 November 2010, the German U -21 defeated England 2-0. As part of the American Football European Championship 2010 match Germany against Finland was held on 29 July 2010, held at the Brita Arena, which won the German team with 23:4. In the fall of 2011, two more matches were held in the Brita Arena. On October 11, 2011, there parted Poland and Belarus before about 5,000 spectators 2-0. On 19 November 2011, the German women 's national soccer team scored its biggest win so far with 17:0 in the European Championship qualifier against the women's team from Kazakhstan.

The Brita - Arena is designed as a pure football stadium, that is, she has no career. Thus, the audience is only about five feet away in the front row from the field. The disadvantage here is that the goal line is good or at all visible from the Located behind only the first rows.

The capacity was corrected for the first half of the season 2007/2008 to 12,066 spectators from the originally planned 12,769 spectator seats down. All courses, including approximately 5800 standing places, are covered. There is a VIP area, boxes and business seats. Operators of the stadium is the Berliner Straße GmbH & Co KG.

The expected useful life as a home ground of Wehen is five years. That for the period after a new stadium to be built, is indeed regulated by a contract between the state capital Wiesbaden and the Wehen, a site for the new building has not yet been found. A long -term use of the originally intended as a temporary Brita - Arena is therefore not excluded by both parties. An increase in the seating capacity by expanding the bleachers would be technically feasible.
