Britânia Sport Club

The Britânia Sports Club was a football club from Curitiba, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. The club went on November 19, 1914 from a merger of " Tigers " and "Lions", the Leão FC and FC Tigre forth. Britânia was named as a tribute by the country of origin of modern football. The club was the most successful of the state at the beginning of the 20th century and until 1942 record champions.

1971 united the club with CA Ferroviário Palestra Itália FC and even both highly renowned institutions of football from Paraná, the Colorado EC. The Colorado EC reunited again in 1989 with the EC Pinheiros to shape the Paraná Clube, who achieved even 7 more state championships until 2006, thus accounting for the glory of the founding fathers of Britânia in a new millennium.

Britânia wore its home games at the Estádio last Paula Soares Neto Jardim Guabiratuba in the quarter from which took around 4,000 spectators. The 1943 with a match against FC Avaí - it was lost with 1-4 - opened stadium was demolished in 1998.

Past successes

In only their second state championship of Paraná in 1916 Britânia still lost in the finals as a representative of the Associação Sportiva Paranaense (ASP ) against Coritiba Foot Ball Club, founded in 1909, represented the League Sportiva Paranaense. The finale took place in January 1917 and Coritiba won 2-1. The Spanish midfielder Joaquim Martin of Britânia was the best scorer of the ASP with remarkable 14 goals in 12 games.

1918 Britânia was for the first time state champion in the tournament which was now aligned for all by the ASP. Scorers Joaquim Martin again made a significant contribution and shot 17 goals in the 10 games of the championship round - half of all the goals from Britânia. By 1923, still followed by six more titles. This series of six championships in a row so far could only be set in the 1970s by Coritiba FC. 1928 was followed by the seventh and final championship of the great pioneer association.
