British Sociological Association

The British Sociological Association (BSA ) is the scientific Association of British sociologists.

Since the sociology in the United Kingdom long stood in the shadow of Social Anthropology, it was relatively late, in 1951, founded on the initiative of several university professors. Its objectives are to promote sociology to support sociologists and to represent the Sociology in the British public.

The BSA publishes the journal Sociology, a bi-monthly periodical of general sociology, next to the more specific subject areas dedicated journals Cultural Sociology and Work, Employment and Society.

Among their 40 different sections ( Study Groups ) is one of its strongest and most active the medical sociological BSA Medical Sociology.
