History

In 1976 the football club Stevenage Borough established (since 2010: Stevenage FC ) after the Stevenage Athletics were dissolved. The Athletics contributed since 1961 from their games at the Broad Hall Way; then it was no more than a fenced football field. The new club could not play in Broad Hall Way, as the city had sold the land to a businessman. End of the 1970 years the city bought back the stadium and renovated it. Then Stevenage Borough moved into the old stadium of Athletics 1980 and took part in the United Counties Football League; they equal graduating first. After further sporting ascent over the years Stevenage Borough reached the Football Conference. Two years later Borough first was an eight-point lead over FC Woking and promotion to the Football League Third Division. As the stadium to the requirements ( 6,000 seats, 1,000 seats) of the Football League was not enough; remained the club in the Football Conference.

Over the years, the venue has been renovated. The stadium now has four covered stands. The main grandstand in the West is equipped with seats, glazed offices and lodges. On the back straight on the east side, the grandstand is a general admission rank; it is used by the home fans. Also reserved for home fans is the seven- North Stand with 700 seats. General Admission Rank is covered for three quarters and open at the east end. In 2001, the South Stand supplemented with a built- in roof scoreboard for £ 600,000 and private parking, the stadium. In the stands, the visiting fans find their seats and includes a computer learning center. For the 2007 /08 season new floodlighting system with four towers in the corners was installed.

The renovation of the venue to proceed. In April 2011, the Association published a computer - animated image of a new North Stand; to potential funders to win for construction. The rank is said to have 2,000 seats and a total cost of 1.25 million pounds. Half of it should come from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund of the Football Foundation. Club chairman Phil Wallace hopes that even 2012 can be started with the construction. If there are earlier donors; one would sooner start construction.
