United spiked brome ( Bromus diandrus )

The large -spiked brome ( Bromus diandrus ) is a plant of the genus brome ( Bromus ) in the family of grasses ( Poaceae ).

Features

The large -spiked brome is an annual, winter annual plant may also have reached the stature heights of 15 to 80 centimeters. The lower leaf sheaths are scattered rauhaarig. The straw is usually hairy below the panicle. The length of the spikelet, including (20 ) 30 to 60 mm long awn, is 60 to 90 millimeters. The lemmas are very rough and 22 to 36 millimeters long.

Bloom time is in May and June.

The seeds are short-lived.

The chromosome number is n = 56

Occurrence

The large -spiked brome comes in meridional and partly also in submeridionalen Europe, West Asia, South Africa, North and South America. In Germany it is found on dry waste places such as debris and hubs rare in western Bavaria, Baden- Württemberg, North Rhine -Westphalia and Berlin.
