The defenseless brome ( Bromus inermis ), also known under the name Unbegrannte brome or Unreinforced brome, is a form- rich, deciduous and perennial representatives of the grasses ( Poaceae ). It can be used as a forage grass with moderate feed value. Especially in the eastern parts of Europe, the grass is used because of its drought and flood resistance.

Occurrence

The defenseless brome is in Germany scattered occurring sweet grass, which prefers dry, nutrient-rich and base- rich soils and warm locations. It is mainly on forest edges, along paths, in fields, found in ruderal semi-arid grassland or ruderal. Currently, it is understood in Germany in the propagation. Identifying

The heyday of the defenseless brome ranges from June to July. There is a relatively high, turf -forming with long streamers meadow grass that can grow to a height of 1 m. The blades are flat and approximately 5-9 mm wide. The most Roehrig closed leaf sheaths and leaf blades that are bald. The greenish ligule ( ligules ) are inconspicuous, short and about 0.5 to 2 mm long.

The individual flowers are in the form of spikelets to four to ten in an upright panicle. The multi aged men panicle branches are alternately on the sides of a four-sided shaft. Each spikelet is up to 3 cm long. The lemmas are long and ovate rounded on the back. You are awnless ( hence the name), sometimes apiculate, rarely also with 2 to 4 mm long guard hairs, which arise shortly below the top. The large dust bags are conspicuously colored yellow. The lower glume is einnervig, the top three, however annoying.
