Browina, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Browina [ brɔvina ] ( German name until 1938: Browienen; 1938-45: Froben ) is a village in the Polish Warmian -Masurian in the rural community Kozłowo. Browina counts 54 inhabitants, of which only 44 are logged in Browina. 98.15 % (53 of 54) of the population are Catholics (as of January 2007).

Geography

Location

Browina is around 15 km south-west of Olsztynek ( Hohenstein ) and about 20 km northwest of Nidzica ( Neidenburg ). South of the village flows the river Maruszka, which is crossed by a bridge to the neighboring village Turowo. Browina located in the southern part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. As the village is located is quite high, there was no flooding.

The neighboring villages of Browina are lubian north, east Turówek, south and west Turowo Ulnowo.

Village subdivision

Although there are no official districts, four subregions of the inhabitants distinguished: 1 Dolek (German Valley ), 2nd Górka (German Berg), 3rd Las (Eng. Forest) and 4 Przed Browiną (Eng. Before Browina ). In Górka the majority of the population lives.

Climate

In winter 2005/2006 Record - zero temperatures down to -35 ° C were achieved at night. The summer in Browina corresponds to that in Germany, with highs of 32 ° C and quite a lot of precipitation.

Lake

The only lake of the village can be found in Dolek: Bagno Browińskie ( Frobenscher lake). It is estimated that half a meter deep. Under this half a meter is again half a meter of mud. The environment is as follows: To the north, a road leads into the next part of the village ( Górka ), to the south is the hamlet of Dolek, east and west, there is only farmland.

Economy

The rather poor village is dominated by agriculture. In all directions Browina is surrounded by agricultural fields. In the resort are currently employs five farmers (as of January 2007). Thus, 40.74 % of the inhabitants are fed agriculture. 33.33% are commuters and work in nearby locations. 20.37 % live on their pensions, and the remaining 5.56% are unemployed.
