Brown-backed bearded saki

The Braunrückensaki ( Chiropotes israelita ) is a primate of the group of New World monkeys ( Platyrrhini ). He was recognized in 2003 on the basis of morphological, karyotypischer and molecular criteria as separate from Rotrückensaki kind.

Braunrückensakis like all Bartsakis medium-sized primate with a predominantly black fur which is colored brown but at the shoulders and back. The head is in adult animals characterized by the hair and the long beard by the throat. The tail is long and very bushy.

These animals live in northern South America in the extreme northern Brazil and southern Venezuela, but their exact distribution is not known. Their habitat is mainly rain forests.

Little is known about the lifestyle of Braunrückensakis, probably agrees with that of the other Bartsakis match. Consequently, they are diurnal and arboreal, living in larger, mixed groups and mainly feed on hard-shelled fruits and seeds. Even on the level of danger you know nothing: the IUCN does not recognize the type, and lists it as a synonym of Rotrückensakis.
