Geographical location

The municipality is located in Piscataquis County at Pleasant River and is part of the Three Rivers Community Alliance, a loose association of municipalities, based in Milo.

The place itself was connected to the railway network in the U.S. in December 1881 by the Bangor and Katahdin Iron Works Railway, 1893 was followed by the main access route to Houlton, which was built by the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. Both routes are now operated by the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway. North of the village runs the route of the Eastern Maine Railway, which had also been opened in the 1880s.
