Brüel & Kjær

Brüel & Kjær ( Sound and Vibration Measurement A / S) is a subsidiary of British Spectris Company. Brüel & Kjær is a manufacturer and supplier of sound and vibration meters.

The company is headquartered in Copenhagen Nærum. Brüel & Kjær has sales offices in 55 countries and has more than 1,150 employees in sales and customer service worldwide.

Founder

Brüel & Kjær was founded on 28 November 1942 by Per Vilhelm Brüel ( born March 15, 1915) and Viggo Kjær ( born June 5, 1914). The two founders met as students at the Polytechnic School in Copenhagen (now Technical University of Denmark ) know. After they had finished their studies in 1939, she decided to develop acoustic instruments. Holger Nielsen was added in 1945 as the third partner and remained until his death in 1978 in the company.

Organizational development

1992 Brüel & Kjær was sold to the German holding company AGV and divided into a number of individual companies:

  • Brüel & Kjær Sound and Vibration Measurement A / S ( The core business with sound and vibration measurement equipment )
  • Brüel & Kjær Vibro ( condition monitoring of machines )
  • BK Medical (medical ultrasonic diagnostic equipment )
  • Innova Air Tech Instruments A / S ( instruments for gas analysis )
  • Danish Pro Audio (studio microphones )

After the division of the company some of the former employees GRASS founded Sound and Vibration. AGIV built the department Spectris on, it includes Brüel & Kjær, Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik GmbH ( HBM), and BTG Instruments GmbH. In July 2000, the Spectris Department at the British Fairey Group Ltd. was. sold. In May 2001, Fairey Group changed its name in Spectirs Plc.

In January 2009, Brüel & Kjær LDS Test & Measurement bought. In February 2009, Brüel & Kjær bought the Lochard Ltd..
