Brunei national football team

The Brunei national football team is the national team of the Asian sultanate of Brunei. She is one of the most unsuccessful teams in the AFC continental federation.

Brunei, it has not yet been able to qualify for a World Cup or the Asian Championships. In her story, she could not leave until six games as the winner.

History

The Football Association of Brunei was founded on 15 March 1956 and was then called Brunei State Amateur Football Association. In 1993, the word 'amateur' has been removed from the official title, since then called the Association Football Association of Brunei Darussalam ( Malay: Persekutuan Bolasepak Negara Brunei Darussalam ).

The previous international experience of the national limited to regional competitions such as the Southeast Asian Games or the ASEAN Football Championship. In 1986, Brunei for the first time at a qualification for a FIFA World Cup finals. For the World Cup 2002, the team participated in a qualifier for the second time.

Today there are approximately 2,500 active players in Brunei, playing in 22 clubs in Brunei.

Due to interference of the state, the association was suspended on 30 September 2009 by FIFA. The suspension was lifted on May 30, 2011. Nevertheless, the national missed by the suspension of participation in the qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
